Baby Steps

 Here is an update on our fossil gas consumption since the heat pump was installed at the end of last October. As a reminder, we have a hybrid system, heat pump / gas furnace. The furnace takes over at -10° Celsius and below. You can see from the graphs that we are doing OK during the cold months. The rest of the year, our gas consumption is entirely for hot water for the dishwasher and shower. Even there, we see a slight improvement; maybe shorter showers. 


The next graph shows how we compare to the neighbours.
Looks like we have improved, but there is a way to go before we reach net zero.
